Grappling Concepts Nixa is owned by Coach Jacob Ritchie. Before coaching, Ritchie proudly served in the United States Marines. After he completed his duties in 2004, he became a professional mixed martial artist with over 32 MMA fights in his 10-year career. He has served as a law enforcement officer since 2008 and is currently a lead law enforcement self defense instructor.
Ritche has a son and two daughters who have taken part in training with him from a very young age. As he transitioned away from his MMA career, his children helped him find a new passion in life: teaching and preparing future wrestlers, kickboxers, and jiu jitsu players for competition. He has now coached wrestling, BJJ, and kickboxing for over a decade. His passion is to build people up and challenge them to be the best version of themselves.
Grappling Concepts doesn’t build bullies, but focuses on training its members never to be victims. The wrestling program works hand-in-hand with Nixa Youth Wrestling. Coach Ritchie has coached at Nixa for several years and strives to provide the phenomenal athletic product Nixa has been producing for years.
Ritchie is a brown belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu. Grappling Concepts is affiliated with Kronos BJJ, under black belt Leonardo Pecanha, and offers a BJJ program with a highly developed curriculum based on a solid basics foundation, chain techniques, and high repetition.
The kickboxing program at Grappling Concepts is learner-friendly with amazing coaches. We offer a unique blend of being fight-effective while getting a full-body cardiovascular workout.
Grappling Concepts also offers an after-school fitness program for elementary-aged children. This program is geared toward helping your children get a head start with their athletic abilities, focusing on strength and conditioning, sportsmanship, self-awareness, and good old-fashioned hard work.
